SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 67
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Thomas Callahan
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
  memories of retired Wichita County sheriff Thomas Joseph Callahan,
  who passed away on August 12, 2021, at the age of 74; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Thomas and Catherine Callahan,
  Thomas Callahan was born on November 3, 1946, in Havertown,
  Pennsylvania, and grew up with a sister, Catherine, and four
  brothers, Joseph, Brian, Patrick, and Francis; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Callahan
  joined the Wichita County Sheriff's Office as a jailer and rose
  through the ranks to deputy and then to lieutenant; he was
  appointed sheriff in 1986 and was subsequently elected to the
  position for the next five terms, becoming the longest-serving
  sheriff in the county; after retiring in 2008, he taught criminal
  justice at Midwestern State University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Callahan shared a rewarding marriage with his
  wife, Mary Anne, and he took great pride in his four children,
  Siobain, Coreen, Thomas, and Aiden; with the passing years, he
  had the privilege of seeing his family grow to include eight
  grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for his kind and generous nature, his
  delightful sense of humor, and his deep devotion to his family,
  Thomas Callahan lived a life that was rich in personal and
  professional achievements, and he will forever be a source of
  inspiration to those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Thomas Joseph
  Callahan and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his
  passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Thomas Callahan.
