SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 90
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Margie Salazar has been named the new chief |
|
|
executive officer of FirstLight Federal Credit Union in El Paso, |
|
|
becoming the first woman to lead that institution in its 67-year |
|
|
history; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Salazar first joined FirstLight, El Paso's |
|
|
second-largest credit union, as a teller, and over the course of |
|
|
her 25-year career, she has distinguished herself in the roles of |
|
|
vice president of retail operations, vice president of lending, |
|
|
executive vice president of operations, and chief retail |
|
|
officer; she held the title of chief financial officer at the |
|
|
time she was tapped to serve as the credit union's CEO; when she |
|
|
takes on her new position on February 1, 2023, she will oversee |
|
|
the operations of a credit union with approximately 300 |
|
|
employees, 109,000 members, and $1.5 billion in assets; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan earned her bachelor's degree in |
|
|
marketing and management from The University of Texas at El Paso; |
|
|
in addition to her work at FirstLight, she has given back to the |
|
|
El Paso community through her service as board chair of the local |
|
|
YMCA and as a member of the advisory council of UTEP's Banking |
|
|
Academy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Margie Salazar's proven record of leadership |
|
|
makes her a truly fitting choice to guide FirstLight Federal |
|
|
Credit Union into the future, and she may indeed reflect with |
|
|
pride on her many accomplishments as she takes on the challenges |
|
|
and opportunities of her new position; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate Margie Salazar on her |
|
|
appointment as CEO of FirstLight Federal Credit Union and that |
|
|
she be extended sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Salazar as an expression of high regard from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
