R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Gladys Huelitt Cariker of Carthage on December 13, 2022,
  at the age of 100; and
         WHEREAS, The former Gladys Huelitt Biggs was born to Augustus
  Marvin Biggs Sr. and Viola Hudman Biggs in Carthage on December 21,
  1921, and she grew up with the companionship of five siblings,
  Augustus, Nannie, John, Minnie, and Mary; in the course of her
  career, she was employed by the Sabine Basket Factory, the
  Yarborough Variety Store, and the Carthage Independent School
  District tax office, and she was a bookkeeper for the Terry Farris
  department store, as well as a seamstress; and
         WHEREAS, Active in her community, this esteemed woman sang in
  the Adult Silver Tone Choir, and she was a charter member of the
  Silver Strummers of Central Baptist Church and a valued congregant
  of First Baptist Church; she was also a longtime member of the
  Rebekah Lodge No. 132; in her leisure time, she enjoyed horseback
  riding, square dancing, and traveling; and
         WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husbands, Cary
  Comer Chadwick, Dr. Allen Newsom Tiller, and John Allen Cariker;
  among those left to cherish her memory are her stepsons, Allen and
  Don Cariker, as well as her nephew, Lynn Travis Whitaker, and her
  nieces, Carol Sue Stokes, Brenda Kay Hathaway, and Beverly Jean
  Cordray; and
         WHEREAS, Although Huelitt Cariker is deeply missed, those who
  held her dear will forever remember the warmth and kindness she
  brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gladys Huelitt Cariker and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
  stepsons, Allen Cariker and his wife, Bobbie, and Don Cariker and
  his wife, Janice; to her nephew, Lynn Travis Whitaker, and his wife,
  Linda; to her nieces, Carol Sue Stokes and her husband, Jeff, Brenda
  Kay Hathaway and her husband, Sammy, and Beverly Jean Cordray and
  her husband, Wayne; and to her other relatives and many friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Huelitt Cariker.
