R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
  memories of Jerry Wade Garrison of Paris, Texas, who passed away on
  January 15, 2023, at the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, A fifth-generation Texan, Jerry Garrison was born in
  Unity on May 10, 1937, to Vollie and Allie Garrison, and he grew up
  with the companionship of six siblings, Bobbie, Thielen, Mary,
  Linda, Theda, and Vella; known for his strong work ethic, he helped
  support his family at a young age; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Garrison enjoyed a long and rewarding career at
  the John Kraft sesame seed factory in Paris that spanned nearly four
  decades; over the course of his tenure, he became a production
  manager and traveled the country in his signature Tony Lama boots
  and gray Stetson hat; after retiring from McCormick & Company in
  1992, he raised cattle in Sumner and worked at Barney Bray's
  Receiving Station; in his leisure time, he loved fishing and
  watching the Texas Rangers; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Garrison married his high
  school sweetheart, the former Cora Mae Ashford, on March 23, 1957,
  and they were blessed with three children, Russell, Steven, and the
  late John Thomas; with the passing years, their family grew to
  include six grandchildren, Jeff, Nathanael, Jonathan, Jennifer,
  Grace, and Andrew, and eight great-grandchildren, Josephine,
  Khloe, Catherine, Azariah, Anna, Jane, Anastasia, and Gabriel; a
  man of deep faith, Mr. Garrison was a longtime member of Christian
  Fellowship Church; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for his generosity, his dedication to his
  family, and his joyful spirit, Jerry Garrison lived a caring and
  purposeful life, and those who were fortunate enough to have known
  him will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jerry Wade Garrison and extend
  heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Cora
  Mae Garrison; to his sons, Russell Garrison and his wife, Helen, and
  Steven Garrison and his wife, Kay; to his grandchildren, Jeff
  Garrison and his wife, Audrey, Nathanael, Jennifer, and Andrew
  Garrison, the Reverend Jonathan Garrison and his wife, Johanna, and
  Grace Underwood and her husband, Andrew; to his
  great-grandchildren; Josephine, Khloe, Catherine, Azariah, Anna,
  Jane, Anastasia, and Gabriel; to his sisters, Theda Owens and her
  husband, James, and Vella Risinger and her husband, Billy; and to
  his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Jerry Garrison.
