SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Jose Angel Martinez, who died on |
|
December 16, 2019, at the age of 67; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jose Angel Martinez was born on August 2, 1952, in |
|
El Palmarito, Nuevo León, Mexico; he attended elementary school |
|
through the third grade before immigrating with his family to the |
|
United States; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of determination and strength, Mr. Martinez |
|
served as a foreman in the Central Valley of California and was |
|
employed with the same farmer for nearly 50 years; he was blessed |
|
with four children and nine grandchildren, who were a source of |
|
great pride and joy in his life; and |
|
WHEREAS, A devoted father, Mr. Martinez instilled in his |
|
children the values of hard work, self-reliance, and the |
|
importance of contributing to one's community; he helped his |
|
children achieve their dreams and found great reward in their |
|
successes; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez cherished time spent with family, |
|
and he enjoyed his visits during the holidays with family members |
|
in the Rio Grande Valley; he resided in Mission while being cared |
|
for by family, and he returned to his native Mexico, where he |
|
spent his final days; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez was a source of strength and |
|
inspiration in the lives of those who knew him, and he leaves |
|
behind memories that will be forever treasured by his family and |
|
friends and by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Jose Angel Martinez; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Jose Angel Martinez. |
