Michael Custy |
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew |
|
to a close with the passing of Michael E. Custy of Lubbock on |
|
February 5, 2023, at the age of 75; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born to Edward and Mary Ann Custy on October 28, |
|
1947, in Denver, Colorado, Michael Custy graduated from Abraham |
|
Lincoln High School in June 1966; answering his nation's call to |
|
duty, he joined the U.S. Air Force and completed five tours in the |
|
Vietnam War; he retired after 22 years of service at the rank of |
|
senior master sergeant with numerous honors, including the |
|
Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and |
|
Outstanding Unit Award with valor; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following his return to civilian life, Mr. Custy |
|
earned a bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University and a |
|
master's degree from Houston Baptist University; he went on to |
|
embark on a fulfilling career with the State of Texas, and he |
|
retired after 29 years as the regional program support director |
|
for the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services in |
|
Lubbock; he also taught business courses at South Plains College, |
|
and in his leisure time, he enjoyed playing golf; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Custy married the love of his life, "Ping," on |
|
May 22, 1974, and the couple shared a rewarding union that |
|
spanned nearly a half century; they raised four children, Aranya, |
|
Sara, Heather, and Elizabeth, and their treasured family grew to |
|
include two grandsons and a great-granddaughter; a man of faith, |
|
he was an active congregant at Christ the King Cathedral in |
|
Lubbock; and |
|
WHEREAS, While the passing of Michael Custy brings great |
|
sorrow to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will long |
|
be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Michael E. Custy |
|
and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to |
|
his wife, Ngarmpis Custy; to his daughters, Aranya Suyabodha, |
|
Sara Rush, Heather Weber, and Elizabeth McCormick; to his |
|
grandchildren, Brian Williams and Mike Weber; to his |
|
great-grandchild, Charlotte Williams; to his siblings, Danny, |
|
Tim, Pat, Dennis, and Kevin Custy, Kay Moore, Colleen Lorenz, |
|
Maureen Roben, and Eileen Hendee; and to his other relatives and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
this day, it do so in memory of Michael Custy. |
