SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of María Teresa "Tere" Ochoa, who died
  December 17, 2022, at the age of 68; and
         WHEREAS, Tere Ochoa was born on August 13, 1953, and was
  raised in Port Isabel, where she attended Port Isabel High School
  and was crowned homecoming queen in 1970; and
         WHEREAS, Tere went on to graduate from Pan American
  University in Brownsville and later received her master's degree
  in bilingual education from Texas A&I in Kingsville and a
  certificate in library science from Sam Houston State
  University; and
         WHEREAS, A passionate educator and an avid reader, Tere
  was an exemplary citizen and a lifetime advocate of public
  education, and she taught in the Point Isabel School District for
  45 years; and
         WHEREAS, She was a dedicated member of Our Lady, Star of
  the Sea Catholic Church and was a member of the church's
  affiliate chapter of the Catholic Daughters of America; and
         WHEREAS, Tere and her beloved husband of 48 years, Benito
  Ochoa III, were blessed with a son, Benito "Bo" Ochoa IV, a
  daughter, Analaura Ochoa-Loera, and two grandchildren, Pedro
  José Loera III, and Matias Benito James Leora; and
         WHEREAS, A source of light to all who knew her, Tere was a
  devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she leaves behind
  memories that will be forever cherished by all who were
  privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of María Teresa Ochoa; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of María Teresa Ochoa.
