SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of María Teresa "Tere" Ochoa, who died |
|
|
December 17, 2022, at the age of 68; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Tere Ochoa was born on August 13, 1953, and was |
|
|
raised in Port Isabel, where she attended Port Isabel High School |
|
|
and was crowned homecoming queen in 1970; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Tere went on to graduate from Pan American |
|
|
University in Brownsville and later received her master's degree |
|
|
in bilingual education from Texas A&I in Kingsville and a |
|
|
certificate in library science from Sam Houston State |
|
|
University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A passionate educator and an avid reader, Tere |
|
|
was an exemplary citizen and a lifetime advocate of public |
|
|
education, and she taught in the Point Isabel School District for |
|
|
45 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She was a dedicated member of Our Lady, Star of |
|
|
the Sea Catholic Church and was a member of the church's |
|
|
affiliate chapter of the Catholic Daughters of America; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Tere and her beloved husband of 48 years, Benito |
|
|
Ochoa III, were blessed with a son, Benito "Bo" Ochoa IV, a |
|
|
daughter, Analaura Ochoa-Loera, and two grandchildren, Pedro |
|
|
José Loera III, and Matias Benito James Leora; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A source of light to all who knew her, Tere was a |
|
|
devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she leaves behind |
|
|
memories that will be forever cherished by all who were |
|
|
privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of María Teresa Ochoa; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of María Teresa Ochoa. |
