SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Texas energy industry and to join its employees,
  advocates, and partners in celebrating Texas Energy Day at the
  Capitol 2023 on March 7, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Texas leads the nation in oil and natural gas
  production, pipeline miles, and refining capacity, all of which
  have made our state, nation, and the world stronger, more
  efficient, and better connected and supplied with goods; and
         WHEREAS, The industry's positive economic impact on Texas,
  including the payment of $24.7 billion in state and local taxes
  and state royalties in 2022 and the provision of 443,000 jobs, is
  strengthening communities and enriching local economies; and
         WHEREAS, For every direct job in the Texas oil and natural
  gas industry, 2.2 indirect jobs are created, resulting in a total
  of 1.4 million Texans' jobs being derived from the state's oil and
  natural gas industry; and
         WHEREAS, Royalties from Texas oil and natural gas serve as
  the primary funding for the Economic Stabilization Fund, also
  known as the Rainy Day Fund, the Permanent School Fund, and the
  Permanent University Fund, contributing billions of dollars to
  those funds as well as $1.65 billion to Texas school districts
  and more than $600 million to Texas counties in property taxes;
  and
         WHEREAS, The Texas oil and natural gas industry is a leader
  in innovation and initiatives that emphasize collaboration in
  finding solutions to environmental outcomes while meeting the
  energy demands of today and of the future; and
         WHEREAS, The Texas oil and natural gas industry plays a
  crucial role in our state and national economies and in global
  stability; it is indeed fitting that the Texas energy industry
  and its partners be recognized for their contributions to the
  Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas energy
  industry and extend to them best wishes for a rewarding Texas
  Energy Day at the Capitol; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this special event.
