R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of Tyler Metro Church in Whitehouse |
|
|
honored founding pastors Jerry and Martha Phelps at the church's |
|
|
40th anniversary celebration on February 26, 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jerry and Martha Phelps started their ministerial |
|
|
career more than six decades ago as evangelists traveling across |
|
|
the country; they helped establish a number of churches and |
|
|
pastored in Indiana for several years before moving back to their |
|
|
home state of Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 1983, Mr. and Mrs. Phelps founded Tyler Metro |
|
|
Church, and they have continued to lead the congregation together |
|
|
for the past 40 years; under their guidance, the members of this |
|
|
notable house of worship have established a variety of commendable |
|
|
programs that foster fellowship and offer help to those in need, |
|
|
including the Philadelphia Blessing food pantry, the Stone Fort |
|
|
Camp, and a robust international missionary program; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its founding, Jerry and Martha Phelps have |
|
|
wholeheartedly committed themselves to advancing the mission of |
|
|
Tyler Metro Church, and their leadership has provided valued |
|
|
inspiration and guidance to their community of faith; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|
|
hereby commend Jerry and Martha Phelps for their service to Tyler |
|
|
Metro Church and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Jerry and Martha Phelps as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas Senate. |
