R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Richard Wade Carter of Sherman on December 5, 2022, at
  the age of 90; and
         WHEREAS, Richard Carter was born in Dallas on December 15,
  1931, to Roscoe and Beatrice Carter; he grew up in Oak Cliff and
  graduated from Dallas High School; answering his nation's call to
  duty, he joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and was stationed in Korea and
  Japan; following his military career, he returned home to help take
  care of his family; and
         WHEREAS, On November 21, 1972, Mr. Carter married the former
  Malinda Ann Stewman; the couple shared a rewarding union that
  spanned half a century, and through the years, they especially
  enjoyed traveling together and trying different restaurants; he
  took great pride in his daughter, Melanie, his stepson, Jack, and
  his four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; known for his
  ability to fix anything, he liked to work with his hands, and he was
  also an avid photographer and angler; a proud Republican and a man
  of faith, he attended Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Oak Cliff for
  many years; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Richard Carter
  will remember the way he touched their lives with his kindness and
  compassion, and he will forever hold a treasured place in their
  hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of Richard Wade Carter and extend
  sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Malinda Ann Carter; to his daughter, Melanie Grammar, and her
  husband, Don; to his stepson, Jack Hopper, and his wife, Merry; to
  his grandchildren, Courtney Hopper, Tifany Jeakins and her husband,
  Travis, Brian Grammar, and Mark Torres and his wife, Courtney; to
  his great-grandchildren, Paisley Haige, Stella Jeakins, Beck
  Jeakins, Zachary Grammar, and Bear Grammar; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Richard Carter.
