SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 353
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Weatherford Chamber of Commerce received |
|
|
numerous accolades at the 2022 International Festivals and |
|
|
Events Association Pinnacle Awards competition in recognition of |
|
|
the Parker County Peach Festival; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by Haas and Wilkerson Insurance, the |
|
|
Pinnacle Awards recognize festivals and other events around the |
|
|
world for their outreach programs and their creative, |
|
|
promotional, and operational materials; this year, honors were |
|
|
given in 73 categories; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Parker County Peach Festival has taken place |
|
|
in downtown Weatherford on the second Saturday in July since |
|
|
1984; the family-friendly event draws thousands of patrons |
|
|
annually and includes dozens of arts, crafts, food, and activity |
|
|
booths as well as live music, a bike ride, and a 42 domino |
|
|
tournament; in addition to support from the Weatherford Chamber |
|
|
of Commerce, the festival benefits from contributions by the City |
|
|
of Weatherford and countless members of local police, fire, and |
|
|
EMS departments; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Peach Festival was selected for first-place |
|
|
awards at the 2022 IFEA competition in the event emergency |
|
|
preparedness and risk management category as well as for best |
|
|
parade, Facebook event page, hat, and t-shirt; the festival was |
|
|
also named runner-up for best poster; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Parker County Peach |
|
|
Festival has brought together neighbors and visitors for a |
|
|
fun-filled celebration, and all those who contribute to the |
|
|
success of this outstanding event are indeed deserving of special |
|
|
recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate the Weatherford Chamber of |
|
|
Commerce on receiving six Pinnacle Awards from the International |
|
|
Festivals and Events Association for the Parker County Peach |
|
|
Festival and extend to all those associated with the chamber and |
|
|
the festival sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the chamber as an expression of high regard from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
