SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 408

WHEREAS, Robert Vargas of Andrews County Airport is being honored as the Airport Professional of the Year at the Texas Department of Transportation 41st Annual Texas Aviation Conference in April 2023; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Vargas has served as manager of the Andrews County Airport since 2010; he oversees maintenance, operations, and customer service at the site, and through the years, other Texas airports have adopted his practices in such areas as wildlife management and property beautification; and

WHEREAS, Widely respected, Mr. Vargas represents Texas Panhandle aviation facilities as a member of the Texas Airport System Plan Project Advisory Committee; among his contributions, he helps develop strategic next-generation initiatives while advocating for the increased awareness of and investment in the rural airports of the Lone Star State; and

WHEREAS, Through his leadership, hard work, and commitment to excellence, Robert Vargas has earned the lasting respect and admiration of his peers, and he is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th Legislature, hereby congratulate Robert Vargas on his selection as the 2023 Airport Professional of the Year by the Texas Department of Transportation and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mr. Vargas as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. Sparks
