SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
join Texans across the state in celebrating April 18, 2023, as |
|
Baylor Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
WHEREAS, Baylor University was established on February 1, |
|
1845, by an act of the Congress of the Republic of Texas; the |
|
oldest continually operating university in the state, this |
|
private Christian university provides a vibrant campus community |
|
to nearly 21,000 students; and |
|
WHEREAS, A highly acclaimed undergraduate and Tier 1 |
|
research institution, Baylor University offers, in addition to |
|
baccalaureate degrees, master's degrees and doctoral degrees as |
|
well as a juris doctor degree and two education specialist |
|
programs; and |
|
WHEREAS, Baylor University is home to a variety of |
|
exceptional athletic programs, with more than 500 student |
|
athletes who compete at the highest level in sports and |
|
consistently rank among the nation's best university students; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, The combination of interdisciplinary research |
|
and faculty commitment to teaching and scholarship have served to |
|
create an institution with an international reputation for |
|
educational excellence, and it is indeed fitting that the |
|
school's many contributions to higher education in Texas be |
|
recognized and celebrated; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
Legislature, hereby commend Baylor University on its commitment |
|
to educating future leaders and extend to the university's |
|
students, faculty, and staff best wishes for a memorable and |
|
rewarding Baylor Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
honor of this special occasion. |
