SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Donna Sue Edwards, a 50-year member of Delta Sigma |
|
|
Theta Sorority, Incorporated; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded in 1913 on |
|
|
the campus of Howard University; the organization strives to |
|
|
promote academic excellence, provide scholarships, support |
|
|
communities, strengthen African American families, and encourage |
|
|
civic and political awareness and participation in the |
|
|
establishment of sound public policy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Donna was inducted into Delta Sigma Theta |
|
|
Sorority in 1972; over the years, she has remained a loyal member |
|
|
of the sorority and has served as a mentor and role model to |
|
|
countless sisters; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Donna is truly deserving of recognition for her |
|
|
longtime membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and for the |
|
|
important role she has played in helping the organization carry |
|
|
out its mission of empowering people and making a difference in |
|
|
Black communities; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Donna Sue Edwards on her many |
|
|
achievements and extend to her congratulations on being honored |
|
|
as a 50-year member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
