SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize Phi Kappa Chi fraternity on the occasion of its 35th |
|
anniversary; and |
|
WHEREAS, Phi Kappa Chi was established in 1988 at Baylor |
|
University as a fraternity centered on the values of brotherhood |
|
and faith; founded by two university students, Ty Bollinger and |
|
Trent Hampton, the fraternity was conceived as an alternative to |
|
the fraternities available at Baylor; and |
|
WHEREAS, The fraternity's founders chose the name Philos |
|
Kruxos Christos to represent the organization's core values of |
|
brotherhood and unity through Christian faith; on January 26, |
|
1988, the original 12 members of Phi Kappa Chi held their first |
|
meeting at the Hankamer School of Business, and on April 21, |
|
1988, Phi Kappa Chi was granted an official charter by Baylor |
|
University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, the fraternity has undertaken a |
|
wide array of responsibilities in service to the community, and |
|
its members have continued to support the fraternity's cardinal |
|
principles of academic, spiritual, physical, and social |
|
improvement through service; Phi Kappa Chi has contributed |
|
immeasurably to the Baylor community, and it is truly fitting |
|
that the fraternity be recognized on the occasion of its 35th |
|
anniversary; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
Legislature, hereby commend the members of Phi Kappa Chi |
|
fraternity on their commitment to brotherhood, scholarship, |
|
service, and spiritual growth and extend to them best wishes for |
|
a memorable 35th anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
the organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas |
|
Senate. |
