R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Richard L. Jackson concluded his service as the
  county judge of Wilson County in December 2022 after presiding over
  the commissioners court for eight years; and
         WHEREAS, First taking office on January 1, 2015, "Dickie"
  Jackson served his fellow citizens with distinction throughout his
  tenure; his many accomplishments included overseeing the
  completion of the restoration project for the county's historic
  courthouse and providing the decisive vote in 2018 to approve the
  purchase of the former Wilson County Show Barn, which provided a
  venue for food distribution and vaccine administration during the
  COVID-19 pandemic; he also worked closely with the county
  commissioners to accomplish the precinct redistricting process in
  2021; and
         WHEREAS, Raised in Stockdale, Mr. Jackson worked in the
  construction and oil industries and as a ranch employee before
  becoming a deputy with the Wilson County Sheriff's Office; he went
  on to serve as the justice of the peace for Precinct 4 in Wilson
  County for 12 years; and
         WHEREAS, Retirement will afford Mr. Jackson more time to
  enjoy his hobbies of hunting and fishing and to travel with his
  wife, Valerie; he also plans to continue to raise cattle and to take
  an active role in the South Central Texas Independent Cattlemen's
  Association; and
         WHEREAS, Through his dedicated leadership and commitment to
  good governance, Dickie Jackson contributed immeasurably to his
  community, and in so doing, he earned the respect and appreciation
  of area residents; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby commend Richard L. Jackson for his service as the county
  judge of Wilson County and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Jackson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas Senate.
