SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 481
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael Culling retired from the |
|
|
Manvel Municipal Court in November 2022, drawing to a close a |
|
|
distinguished career that has spanned five and a half decades; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After graduating with honors from the University |
|
|
of Dallas, Mr. Culling earned his law degree in 1967 from The |
|
|
University of Texas at Austin; he then took a position in the |
|
|
contracts division of the NASA Manned Spacecraft Center in |
|
|
Houston, and he later worked for an oil and gas company before |
|
|
setting up a private practice in Deer Park; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 1974, Mr. Culling was sworn in as the presiding |
|
|
judge of Deer Park Municipal Court, and he has served as |
|
|
presiding judge for the City of Manvel since 1996; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Culling has contributed to his professional |
|
|
community as a member of the council for the Municipal Judges |
|
|
Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar College, and the |
|
|
Brazoria County and Houston Bar Associations; he has also given |
|
|
generously of his time and talents to the Alvin-Manvel Area |
|
|
Chamber of Commerce and to the Deer Park Rotary Club, Jaycees, |
|
|
and Chamber of Commerce; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Culling benefits from |
|
|
the love and support of his wife, Jan; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his years of service, Michael Culling |
|
|
has distinguished himself through his exceptional skill and |
|
|
dedication, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well |
|
|
spent as he looks forward to the next exciting chapter of his |
|
|
life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate Judge Michael Culling on his |
|
|
retirement from the Manvel Municipal Court and extend to him |
|
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Culling as an expression of high regard from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
