R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Paul Voelker is concluding his service as mayor of |
|
Richardson in May 2023, drawing to a close an exemplary tenure in |
|
municipal government that has spanned 10 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mayor Voelker first joined the Richardson City |
|
Council in 2013, and after being elected as mayor pro tempore by his |
|
fellow council members, he was appointed to serve as mayor in May |
|
2015; he was elected to that office in 2017 and went on to be |
|
reelected in 2019 and 2021; demonstrating strong leadership over |
|
the course of his tenure as mayor, he helped guide Richardson during |
|
a period of tremendous growth and excelled in his duties as the |
|
presiding officer of the city council and as the official head of |
|
government and representative for the city; and |
|
WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his community, Mayor Voelker is |
|
a member of the Richardson Police Department Breckenridge Park West |
|
crime watch patrol; he has also served on the Richardson Chamber of |
|
Commerce ex officio board and as an ex officio member of the |
|
Leadership Richardson advisory board, and he is active in the |
|
Leadership Richardson Alumni Association, having been a member of |
|
the program's Class XVI; in addition, he has previously given |
|
generously of his time to a number of other organizations, boards, |
|
and committees, including the Metroplex Mayors Association, the |
|
Richardson Zoning Board of Adjustments, and the Richardson |
|
Independent School District Foundation; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of William Penn University, Mayor Voelker |
|
is the CEO of TrenData Inc. and has more than three decades of |
|
experience working in the Richardson Telecom Corridor; in |
|
recognition of his expertise in the field, he was appointed to the |
|
IT Cluster Committee by Governor Rick Perry; in all his endeavors, |
|
he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Kris, and their son, |
|
Ryan; and |
|
WHEREAS, The dedication, expertise, and commitment to |
|
excellence demonstrated by Paul Voelker have greatly benefited the |
|
citizens of Richardson, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a |
|
job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby commend Paul Voelker on his service as mayor of Richardson |
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mayor Voelker as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas Senate. |
