SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 534
         WHEREAS, Retired Texas Parks and Wildlife Department staff
  artist Clemente Guzman III continues to distinguish himself
  through his outstanding depictions of our great state; and
         WHEREAS, Raised in a family of nine children, Clemente
  Guzman grew up in San Antonio and Minnesota, where his family
  worked as migrant farm workers; his father instilled in him a
  profound appreciation for nature, and he was also inspired by the
  wildlife art he saw in local galleries; after earning a diploma
  in commercial art at Mankato Technical Institute, he returned to
  San Antonio and took a job in day care while beginning his career
  as a freelance artist, mostly for ad agencies; one client was so
  impressed by his vivid likenesses of wildlife that she arranged
  an interview with TPWD; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Guzman joined TPWD in 1988, and he spent
  nearly three decades creating beautiful art and graphics for a
  wide variety of purposes, from game stamps, posters, and
  conservation license plates to bird guides, brochures, and of
  course, Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine; along the way, he also
  fit in some freelance projects, and he has continued to produce
  exceptional work since his retirement in 2017; he provided the
  cover illustration for Viva Texas Rivers! Adventures,
  Misadventures, and Glimpses of Nirvana along Our Storied
  Waterways, published by Texas A&M University Press; in addition,
  he was featured in the related group exhibition at the Wittliff
  Collections at Texas State University, and he was the poster
  artist for the 2021 Texas Book Festival; TPWD commissioned from
  him paintings of three state parks for a book celebrating the
  agency's centennial, Art of Texas Parks, and an exhibition that
  will travel to the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the
  Bullock Museum in 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Through his tremendous talent, Clemente Guzman
  has won the admiration of countless people and heightened their
  appreciation for the wildlife and natural beauty of the Lone Star
  State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, hereby honor Texas Centennial Artist Clemente
  Guzman III for his artistic achievements and contributions to the
  Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Guzman as an expression of high regard from the
  Texas Senate.
