R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Abby Short of Girl Scout Troop No. 1015 has attained |
|
|
the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly merits |
|
|
recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Short successfully |
|
|
met a series of requirements emphasizing community service, |
|
|
personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership |
|
|
skills; as part of that process, she planned and implemented a Gold |
|
|
Award project to expand and increase the availability of glass |
|
|
recycling in Longview; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging |
|
|
young women to explore career opportunities and to become more |
|
|
socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its |
|
|
participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged |
|
|
citizens and leaders; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Short has |
|
|
demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest |
|
|
ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with pride on |
|
|
a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|
|
hereby congratulate Abby Short on her receipt of the Girl Scout Gold |
|
|
Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
|
|
and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Short as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
Senate. |
