R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Education foundations serve as a valuable resource
  for school districts across the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, Based on a model developed by Dr. Pete Karabatsos,
  education foundations are structured as tax-exempt nonprofit
  organizations and managed by a volunteer board of directors
  representing local businesses and civic organizations; the
  foundations share a common mission to support the school systems
  they serve; and
         WHEREAS, Among their many contributions, education
  foundations host various events to secure funds for a wide range of
  initiatives, including innovative classroom approaches, educator
  and student learning projects, and professional development
  programs; they also connect school districts with the wider
  community by creating partnerships with alumni, public figures,
  parents, corporations, and philanthropists; and
         WHEREAS, Since its establishment in 2012, the Texas Education
  Foundation Network has helped local education foundations provide
  networking opportunities, facilitate sharing of best practices,
  and provide training and resources; and
         WHEREAS, Education foundations play an essential role in
  equipping school districts with the tools they need to succeed, and
  in so doing, they are contributing immeasurably to the future of the
  Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby commend education foundations in Texas and extend to all
  those associated with the organizations sincere best wishes for
  continued success with their important work.
