SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Jimmy Perdue, who is retiring as North Richland Hills'
  chief of police and director of public safety on May 31, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, A decorated peace officer with more than 40 years
  in public service, Jimmy Perdue was appointed as the chief of
  police for the North Richland Hills Police Department in 2005
  after serving for 23 years with the Irving Police Department and
  was promoted to director of public safety in 2008; and
         WHEREAS, As the director of public safety, Chief Perdue
  assumed responsibility not only for the police department but
  also for the fire department, the emergency management
  department, and five other city departments; in all his roles, he
  fulfilled his duties with great skill and dedication; and
         WHEREAS, Under Chief Perdue's sound administration, the
  North Richland Hills Police Department was awarded Recognized
  Status from the Texas Police Chiefs Association Foundation Best
  Practices Recognition program, a status the department has
  maintained since earning it in 2011; he was instrumental in
  implementing the award-winning Volunteers in Police Service
  program, the Women of Law Enforcement Conference, and the SHIELD
  program, which promotes a refined use-of-force policy and an
  employee-wellness program to ensure the well-being of each
  officer; and
         WHEREAS, Renowned for his courage and commitment, Chief
  Perdue has served his community with the utmost distinction,
  leading numerous professional boards, including the Texoma
  High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Group, the International
  Association of Chiefs of Police, and most recently, the Texas
  Police Chiefs Association; and
         WHEREAS, Chief Perdue is a devoted husband to his wife,
  Rhonda, with whom he shares three children and two grandchildren
  who enrich his life immeasurably; a beloved leader, teacher, and
  visionary, Chief Perdue is an inspiration to future generations
  of peace officers, and he is truly deserving of recognition for
  his many accomplishments throughout his career; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, hereby commend Chief Jimmy Perdue on his
  outstanding public service as the North Richland Hills police
  chief and director of public safety and extend to him sincere
  best wishes on a satisfying retirement; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
