SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay |
|
|
tribute to the valiant Texans who have served our nation with |
|
|
distinction and to recognize the Greater Granbury Chapter of the |
|
|
Military Officers Association of America, which is holding the |
|
|
11th annual Honoring Hometown Heroes and A Field of Flags program |
|
|
during the 2023 Memorial Day Weekend; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Service banners and flags will be displayed at |
|
|
the event, which will take place at Memorial Field in Granbury; |
|
|
for more than a decade, the Greater Granbury Chapter of the |
|
|
Military Officers Association of America has honored our |
|
|
nation's fallen military servicemen and servicewomen, and the |
|
|
association is proud to commemorate these heroes who gave their |
|
|
lives during armed conflict on behalf of the United States; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Honoring Hometown Heroes and A Field of Flags |
|
|
will provide attendees with the opportunity to acknowledge and |
|
|
appreciate those who gave their last full measure of devotion in |
|
|
service to our country; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Gold Star Wife and Mother Gail Joyce founded |
|
|
Honoring Hometown Heroes and A Field of Flags to preserve the |
|
|
legacies of her husband and son and to commemorate the bravery of |
|
|
our veterans; inspired by the sacrifices of her husband, Larry |
|
|
Joyce, a veteran of America's war in Vietnam who lost his life due |
|
|
to complications from his exposure to Agent Orange, and her |
|
|
younger son, James Casey Joyce, who made the ultimate sacrifice |
|
|
in battle during the Battle of Mogadishu, a part of Black Hawk |
|
|
Down, Gail has wholeheartedly dedicated her time and energy to |
|
|
honoring our esteemed troops; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Our nation's military service members are truly |
|
|
deserving of honor and special recognition for their patriotism |
|
|
and selfless service, and their sacrifices and heroism will be |
|
|
remembered with respect and gratitude by their fellow Americans; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby recognize the Greater Granbury Chapter of |
|
|
the Military Officers Association of America and Gold Star Wife |
|
|
and Mother Gail Joyce and extend to the attendees of the 11th |
|
|
annual Honoring Hometown Heroes and A Field of Flags program best |
|
|
wishes during this time of honor and remembrance; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
|
honor of this special occasion. |
