SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 665
         WHEREAS, The Korean American Association of El Paso
  provided vital aid to the citizens of Turkey in the wake of the
  devastating earthquakes that impacted the nation in February
  2023; and
         WHEREAS, On February 6, a magnitude 7.8 quake struck
  southern Turkey and northern Syria, and strong aftershocks
  continued to ravage communities in the weeks that followed; the
  earthquakes killed at least 50,000 people and injured many more,
  and the widespread destruction of property left hundreds of
  thousands homeless; and
         WHEREAS, In response to the disaster, the Korean American
  Association of El Paso worked tirelessly to collect donations and
  raise funds for the people of Turkey; the organization has
  benefited immeasurably from the contributions of its members,
  who are veterans of armed forces in the United States as well as
  other nations; and
         WHEREAS, The members of the Korean American Association of
  El Paso have helped to ease the burden on a number of earthquake
  survivors in Turkey, and in so doing, they have set an inspiring
  example of compassion and generosity toward others; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, hereby commend the Korean American Association of
  El Paso for its contributions to earthquake relief efforts in
  Turkey and extend to the organization's members sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for the Korean American Association of El Paso as an
  expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
