SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 680
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Gene Marshall DeLoach
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Gene Marshall DeLoach, who died
  May 16, 2023, at the age of 80; and
         WHEREAS, Gene DeLoach was born on March 12, 1943, in West
  Point, Georgia, to Wade and Doris DeLoach; a distinguished
  military veteran and a proud civil servant, Gene devoted
  himself to serving his community and the State of Texas
  throughout his long and rewarding career in law enforcement;
  he served more than three decades as a Texas game warden, and
  he was passionate about protecting the natural resources,
  wildlife, and beauty of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Gene enlisted in the United States Army in 1962
  and was stationed for training in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he met
  his future bride, Shirley Ann Cosper; the two were married on
  April 22, 1964, in Wichita Falls, and Gene was deployed to
  Vietnam that same year; he served his country with distinction
  before returning home in 1965, and he and Shirley settled in
  Killeen; and
         WHEREAS, Gene served with the Killeen Police Department
  before attending the Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden
  Academy, and he graduated in 1973; Gene served as a Texas game
  warden in Hamilton, where he and his family made their home;
  dedicated throughout his 30 years of service, he managed the many
  responsibilities of law enforcement with diligence and honor
  while contributing to preserving the natural habitats of Central
  Texas, and his efforts helped to promote an appreciation of the
  natural world for future generations of Texans; and
         WHEREAS, Gene was an avid outdoorsman and found great joy
  in hunting, fishing, and traveling to Colorado with his friends;
  above all else, he cherished his wife, Shirley, and their
  children, Michele, Michael, and Mark; his six grandchildren and
  his five great-grandchildren enriched his life immeasurably; and
         WHEREAS, Beloved by many, Gene engaged in life with vigor
  and determination, and his adventurous spirit and enthusiasm for
  living each day to the fullest were a source of inspiration to
  others; he will long be remembered with respect and admiration by
  his family and by all who were privileged to share in his life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Gene Marshall DeLoach; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Gene DeLoach.
