R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The first annual DPS Troopers Foundation Burn and
  Turn BBQ Cook-Off is taking place in Poteet on October 7, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the Champions Barbecue Alliance as one
  of the organization's state championship cook-offs, this
  much-anticipated event attracts talented chefs from across Texas
  and beyond; these highly skilled pitmasters put their culinary
  abilities to the test as they vie to produce the tastiest entries in
  several different categories; and
         WHEREAS, The event's grand champion will receive an
  invitation to the American Royal World Series of Barbecue contest
  as well as a chance to compete at the Jack Daniel's World
  Championship Invitational Barbecue competition; and
         WHEREAS, The DPS Troopers Foundation is a nonprofit
  organization that supports DPS Officers Association members
  through education and training, emergency financial assistance,
  and scholarships for qualifying family members; the foundation also
  provides benefits for survivors of DPS personnel, and it donates to
  programs for at-risk youth; and
         WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and the
  DPS Troopers Foundation Burn and Turn BBQ Cook-Off is sure to offer
  good food and good times to everyone in attendance; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby commemorate the 2023 DPS Troopers Foundation Burn and Turn
  BBQ Cook-Off and extend to the organizers, contestants, and
  attendees sincere best wishes for a fun and successful event; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the DPS Troopers Foundation as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas Senate.
