SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 724
|
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than two decades, retired Sergeant First |
|
|
Class Lachrishua Jane Walton served her country with great |
|
|
distinction as a member of the United States Army, and the |
|
|
observance of Women Veterans Day 2023 provides a fitting |
|
|
opportunity to pay tribute to her outstanding military career; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class Walton excelled in her |
|
|
responsibilities during her 21 years in the U.S. Army; answering |
|
|
the call to duty in a number of major military engagements, she |
|
|
was deployed to Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, as |
|
|
well as multiple peacekeeping missions; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of the Hiring Our Heroes program that |
|
|
connects members of the armed forces community with American |
|
|
businesses, Sergeant First Class Walton currently works as a |
|
|
health care navigator for Endeavors and a case manager for |
|
|
Supportive Services for Veteran Families; in these positions, |
|
|
she has assisted current and former members of the military in |
|
|
accessing vital care and resources, and she has played an active |
|
|
role in helping individuals and families at risk of becoming |
|
|
homeless; she holds a bachelor's degree in social work and is |
|
|
pursuing a master's degree in the subject; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During her years in uniform, Lachrishua Walton |
|
|
upheld the highest ideals of our nation's armed forces, |
|
|
demonstrating exemplary bravery, dedication, and integrity, and |
|
|
her fellow citizens owe her a lasting debt of gratitude; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Sergeant First Class (Ret.) |
|
|
Lachrishua Jane Walton for her military service on the occasion |
|
|
of Women Veterans Day 2023 and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|
|
for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Sergeant First Class Walton as an expression of high |
|
|
regard from the Texas Senate. |
