R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For more than two decades, retired Sergeant First
  Class Lachrishua Jane Walton served her country with great
  distinction as a member of the United States Army, and the
  observance of Women Veterans Day 2023 provides a fitting
  opportunity to pay tribute to her outstanding military career; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class Walton excelled in her
  responsibilities during her 21 years in the U.S. Army; answering
  the call to duty in a number of major military engagements, she was
  deployed to Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, as well
  as multiple peacekeeping missions; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of the Hiring Our Heroes program that
  connects members of the armed forces community with American
  businesses, Sergeant First Class Walton currently works as a health
  care navigator for Endeavors and a case manager for Supportive
  Services for Veteran Families; in these positions, she has assisted
  current and former members of the military in accessing vital care
  and resources, and she has played an active role in helping
  individuals and families at risk of becoming homeless; she holds a
  bachelor's degree in social work and is pursuing a master's degree
  in the subject; and
         WHEREAS, During her years in uniform, Lachrishua Walton
  upheld the highest ideals of our nation's armed forces,
  demonstrating exemplary bravery, dedication, and integrity, and
  her fellow citizens owe her a lasting debt of gratitude; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby commend Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Lachrishua Jane Walton
  for her military service on the occasion of Women Veterans Day 2023
  and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Sergeant First Class Walton as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas Senate.
