No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would expand the conduct constituting certain offenses related to trafficking of disabled individuals and increase the penalty from a second degree felony to a first degree felony. The bill would also establish a 30-year statute of limitations for filing a civil action based on the conduct of the offense and allow certain use of certain extraneous evidence in the prosecution of the offense.
It is assumed that any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant. According to the Office of Court Administration and Comptroller of Public Accounts, no significant impact to the state court system or state revenue is anticipated.
Local Government Impact
It is assumed that any fiscal impact to units of local government associated with enforcement, prosecution, supervision, or confinement would not be significant.
