LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 17, 2023

TO:
Honorable Terry Canales, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB539 by Bailes (Relating to the issuance of distinguishing license plates for farm and ranch vehicles.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Transportation Code, Section 502.433, relating to the registration of a commercial motor vehicle as farm vehicle, to require the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) to provide a person registering a vehicle under that section the option of being issued a "Ranch Vehicle" distinguishing license plate.

Based on the information provided by TxDMV, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the department's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
