IN RE:	HB648 by Gervin-Hawkins (Relating to the enforcement of the prohibition on passing a school bus using images from a school bus monitoring system.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize a local authority or school district, based on a recorded image by a “school bus monitoring system” to issue a civil or criminal charge or citation for passing a school bus. The bill would allow for use of the recorded image as evidence in a proceeding for a violation of passing a school bus.  

This analysis assumes costs to the Office of Court Administration could be absorbed using existing resources. However, precise cost estimates cannot be determined as case-level data that might allow for case volume projections is not available.

Local Government Impact

The fiscal impact to units of local government cannot be determined because the number of violations issued and the subsequent impact to local courts is unknown.
