FROM:

IN RE:
HB806 by VanDeaver (Relating to a study regarding the placement of rumble strips on highway shoulders.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to conduct a study to identify and assess the placement of rumble strips along highway shoulders, to permit the use of the shoulders by farm equipment, and submit to the legislature a report on the results and recommendations from the study no later than December 1, 2025. The bill would authorize TxDOT to collaborate with another state agency or a research division of a Texas institution of higher education to conduct the study. The provisions of the bill would expire on January 1, 2027.

Based on the information provided by TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the department's existing resources.
