LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 18, 2023

TO:
Honorable Victoria Neave Criado, Chair, House Committee on County Affairs

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1247 by Harris, Cody (Relating to regulation of food service establishments, retail food stores, mobile food units, roadside food vendors, temporary food service establishments, and food managers.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to establish and maintain a registry on the agency's website for copies of orders required to be submitted by a county or a public health district for inclusion in the registry. The agency would require one-time application and system modifications to the Regulatory Automation System and auxiliary technology services. It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

Local governments and health jurisdictions may experience a negative impact due to increased responsibilities and prohibition of certain fees. The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined at this time.
