No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
According to the Office of Court Administration, while the agency does not have the data necessary to determine how many historical cases would be eligible for a nondisclosure order under the bill, there would be a temporary impact to local governments resulting from the increase in proposed orders related to the retroactive application of the bill and the inability of courts to assess a $28 issuance fee to cover the cost of reviewing and processing an order. The bill would impact the workload of local courts and community supervision and corrections departments to implement the requirements of the bill. As the bill has a staggered deadline for the issuance of the orders that must be issued ranging from July of 2025 through December of 2027, once the historical eligible cases have been addressed, there would be no additional workload resulting from the bill.
