LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 13, 2023

TO:
Honorable Joe Moody, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1907 by Anchía (Relating to the procedures for the expunction of arrest records and files for persons who complete certain court programs or pretrial intervention programs.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The fiscal implication to local governments cannot be determined. Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, there would be an indeterminate increase in the workload of prosecuting attorneys, as a prosecutor must prepare the order, regardless of a request for it, if a person successfully completes one of the programs.
