LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION
March 29, 2023
TO:
Honorable Jeff Leach, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence
FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB2383 by Leach (Relating to court deposition and transcription services and fees and to court reporters and certified court interpreters; establishing a civil penalty.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources. No significant fiscal impact to state revenues is anticipated.
Local Government Impact
The fiscal implications to local units of government cannot be determined due to variances in commissioner court reimbursement rates and because the extent to which “shared” court reporters render services outside of their home counties and official reporters and deputy reporters would appear remotely when providing reporting services is unknown.
