IN RE:	HB2927 by Turner (Relating to quarantine leave for certain public safety employees.), As Introduced

The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined due to the inability to predict the frequency of employee quarantine and isolation and associated costs.

The bill would require the development of a paid quarantine leave policy for public safety employees at certain state agencies. The bill would require affected employees to receive all compensation and benefits during quarantine, as well as receive reimbursement for lodging, medical costs, and transportation.

According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, costs associated with the bill could be significant, depending on the frequency of employee quarantine. The agency notes that the bill would apply to correctional staff and to peace officers. The extent of the agency's costs cannot be determined.
