Honorable Abel Herrero, Chair, House Committee on Corrections
FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB2935 by Lopez, Janie (Relating to veterans placed on community supervision or confined in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require certain reentry and reintegration services be provided to veterans that are placed on community supervision or are incarcerated in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) facility. According to TDCJ the costs associated with the bill's provisions could be absorbed using existing resources.
This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
