LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 4, 2023

TO:
Honorable Terry Canales, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4226 by Raney (Relating to certain temporary motor vehicle tags.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Transportation Code, Section 503.063, to authorize a vehicle to be issued and displayed a buyer's temporary tag without satisfying the inspection requirement of Transportation Code, Chapter 548, if the vehicle is purchased at a public auction and the seller is a non-profit organization.

Based on the analysis provided by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, it is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the department's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
