LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 25, 2023

TO:
Honorable Todd Hunter, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4440 by Hunter (Relating to state and local government responses to a pandemic disaster, including the establishment of the Pandemic Disaster Legislative Oversight Committee.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The fiscal impact of the bill could be significant, if the property tax rate of a city or county was limited after the governor's office had determined that the city or county took action to require the closure of a private business in response to a pandemic disaster. However, the potential impact of the bill's provisions cannot be estimated at this time.
