LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 16, 2023

TO:
Honorable Dade Phelan, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4797 by Romero, Jr. (Relating to training on the treatment of toll project roadways during inclement weather.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Transportation Code, Chapter 372, to establish training requirements for toll project entities and their employees or contractors that treat a roadway maintained by the entity during icy or snowy weather. The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to make its training courses that it provides to TxDOT employees, available to a person required to receive training under the provisions of the bill. The bill would require TxDOT, in coordination with toll project entities, to determine the types of employees and contractors who are subject to the training requirements.

Based on the information provided by TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the department's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
