HJR144 by Canales (Proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the use of money in the state highway fund for roadways for seaports, airports, spaceports, land ports of entry, and international bridges.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, other than the cost of publication.

The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $204,406.

The resolution would propose an amendment to Article VIII, Section 7-a, Texas Constitution, to expand the authorized uses of revenue from motor vehicle registration fees and taxes on motor fuels and lubricants to include the purposes of acquiring rights-of-way, constructing, and maintaining roadways for seaports, airports, spaceports, land ports of entry, and international bridges.

Adoption of the proposed amendment alone would have no fiscal impact on the state or units of local government other than the cost of publication. The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $204,406.

The proposed amendment would be submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023.
