SB18 by Creighton (Relating to the tenure and employment of faculty members at certain public institutions of higher education.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend various Education Code provisions related to tenure. Under provisions of the bill, only an institution's governing board, on the recommendation of the institution's chief executive officer and the university's system's chancellor, if applicable, may grant tenure. The bill would take effect September 1, 2023.

It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
