LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 23, 2023

TO:
Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB280 by Zaffirini (Relating to the issuance of specialty license plates for members of the military who served in Operation Freedom's Sentinel.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Transportation Code, Chapter 504, to require the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) to issue a specialty license plate for persons who served in the U.S. armed services and participated in Operation Freedom's Sentinel. The bill would amend Transportation Code, Section 504.202(e-1), to require creation of disabled veteran and disabled veteran with international standard of accessibility symbol versions of this specialty plate.

Based on the analysis provided by TxDMV, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
