FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 12, 2023

TO:
Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1021 by Nichols (Relating to the handling of bids on certain contracts for highway projects.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to increase the dollar value of contracts for highway improvements that may be filed locally with a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) district engineer from less than $300,000 to less than $1.0 million.

Based on the information provided by TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
