No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Business & Commerce Code to authorize the Office of the Attorney General to issue civil investigative demands if there is reason to believe that a person has engaged in, is engaging in, or is about to engage in a violation of Chapter 20 of the Business & Commerce Code.
According to the Office of the Attorney General, any additional work resulting from the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources.
