LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 25, 2023

TO:
Honorable Dan Patrick, Lieutenant Governor, Senate
Honorable Dade Phelan, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB2601 by Hinojosa (Relating to payment of costs related to the relocation of certain utility facilities for state highway projects.), Conference Committee Report

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Transportation Code, Section 203.092, relating to reimbursement for relocation of utility facilities required by improvements to certain state highway facilities, to include water supply or sewer service corporations organized and operating under Water Code, Chapter 67, as eligible entities for reimbursement under the Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) existing utility reimbursement program.

Based on the information provided by the TxDOT, it is assumed any costs associated with reimbursements for relocation of utility facilities authorized by the bill would be accommodated within the department's existing highway planning and construction funding sources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
