IN RE:
HB1910 by AnchÃa (Relating to the prosecution of the offense of forgery.), As Engrossed
The bill would add a presumption that, for purposes of determining the penalty level of certain instances of forgery to obtain or attempt to obtain a property or service, a person in possession of forged money intended to obtain a property or service of a value equal to the total purported value of the forged money.
In fiscal year 2022, there were 310 individuals arrested, 69 individuals placed on adult community supervision, 23 individuals admitted into an adult state correctional institution, and one individual placed on juvenile community supervision for certain instances of forgery.
It is assumed that any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant.
