Pursuant to a notice posted on May 1, 2023, the House Committee on Corrections met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Herrero, at 6:46 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Herrero; Kacal; Jones, Venton; Lopez, Ray; Murr; Swanson; and Toth.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

The chair directed that the April 12, 2023 minutes and the April 17, 2023 minutes for the House Committee on Corrections be corrected. The corrected minutes were authorized without objection.

 

SB 1179

 

The chair laid out SB 1179 as pending business.

 

The chair moved that SB 1179, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Herrero; Kacal; Jones, Venton; Lopez, Ray; Murr; Swanson; Toth (7).

 

Nays:                           None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                        Representatives Allen; Sherman, Sr. (2).

 

 

HB 5158

 

The chair laid out HB 5158 as pending business.

 

The chair moved that HB 5158, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Nays:                           None (0).

The chair laid out HB 5177 as pending business.

 

Representative Toth offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Toth moved that HB 5177, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
