Pursuant to a notice posted on August 15, 2024, revised on August 23, 2024 (due to technical difficulties, the hearing location changed from E2.016 to E2.012, and new meeting location signs were posted on the doors of E2.016), the House Committee on Elections met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Smith, at 10:13 a.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Smith; Burrows; Capriglione; DeAyala; and Morales, Eddie.

A quorum was present.

The Chair made opening remarks.

The Committee took invited testimony on the Adherence to Texas Election Laws including:

Evaluating the Secretary of State’s Election Audit Program’s findings

Testimony taken/registration recorded.  (See attached witness list.)

The Committee took invited testimony on the agencies and programs under the Committee’s jurisdiction including:

The storage and management processes for voter registration data and those tasked with administering and monitoring these processes.

Testimony taken/registration recorded.  (See attached witness list.)

The Committee took invited testimony on the Adherence to Texas Election Laws including:

Soliciting information regarding potential emergent election issues in other counties.

Testimony taken/registration recorded.  (See attached witness list.)

At 1:29 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
